Yaktrax's are the bestOct 26, 2008
By Michael Dennison
"Sound Ideas"
Yaktrax's are unbeatable. They give the greatest traction in all icy conditions. I run a high mountain camp and have tried many ice traction devises. In icy conditions, CAUTION, is always the most important factor, no matter what the devise. In walking indoors all devises can be hazardous, it depends on the care you use while walking. My staff and I have used Yaktrax's for years. For inside staff, regular Yaktrax's are the best. They put them on to walk from their cabin or car to the office and pop them off once inside. For my outside staff, the Yaktrax Pro's can't be beat. They are rugged and don't ware out. The strap over the front of the boot keeps them in place in most situations. When coming inside it is best and easiest to slip the boots off and to step into indoor shoes. For long Life - take a little time - when putting "Trax's" on, make sure they slip into the grooves in the soles of the boots and if the end of a spring starts to catch, use a pair of pliers to squeeze it back into place. The Yaktrax Pro's I have on now have lasted me for three years and counting.

They work fine in a mix of ice and snow/slush, but lack stability on pure ice.Feb 19, 2007
By Verdigris When I first got these in mixed conditions they worked fine, but as soon as the snow/ice turned to solid ice I kept slipping and sliding. Have been told that the cleat-type grippers work better and am going to try either Stabilicers or GripOns. I walk up and down a small hill daily and despite the top velcro strap they would come off the toe. Also, just 2 months into the winter season one of the rubber straps broke. They're lightweight, but overall, not recommended.

Excellent! Improve your SAFETY during winter walksDec 21, 2005
By Kim Voss bought 2 pairs for my walking partner and self. They are awesome! We tried cheaper versions last winter and spent most of the time trying to keep them on our shoes. The YAKTRAX pro has a strap over the toes helps keep them in place. We walk on ice, snow, shoveled walks, streets and they keep you from slipping. Be careful on tile or flooring in your house - then they are slippery. One of us had shoes with an opening in the sole that created a pocket for snow build up - once the shoes were changed to a flatter bottom - no more build up. I love them and considering the cost of an injury without them think they are well worth the money.

A MUST FOR WINTER!Dec 10, 2005
By New Jersey I purchased the Yaktrax Pro for myself and the Yaktrax for my child. They are wonderful! Having a herniated disk, I take risks walking on ice and snow and feel much more confident when wearing my Yaktrax. The Yaktrax help decrease the chances of falling and/or slipping on ice and snow. I will never do without them! They are not for indoor use. One less star due to the Yaktrax Pro being on the pricey side.

Yaktrax proJan 26, 2008
By S. Hayward I run 3 to 6 miles several times a week year around in Michigan. I bought a pair of yaktrax pro 3 years ago and use them whenever there is ice and/or snow on the trails on which I run. They have been great! They are easy to slip on over my running shoes, they stay on, and I'm barely aware of them when I run, other than that I no longer slip and slide on ice and snow. The original pair that I bought 3 years ago finally broke in one spot last week so I need to replace them. Even the break was not a big deal. One of the pieces of rubber on the bottom tore. I went ahead and ran on it anyway and it still did OK. I highly recommend these to anyone who wants to stay active year around in a snowy/icy climate.
