Spartan - all the basicsJan 14, 2008
By N. Phelps The Spartan is one of the basic Swiss Army Knife models. It has the can opener/phillips, bottle opener/flathead screwdriver/prybar, large blade, small blade, awl, corkscrew, toothpick and tweezers. All the basics for a compact knife that is carried easily - I prefer Spartan-size SAKs, which have 2 layers of tools, for pocket carry. The translucent scales look great.
This knife also works well paired with a keychain-size 58mm SAK like the Classic, which provides scissors and a nailfile, which the Spartan does not have.
Great knife with excellent Victorinox quality and value.
Couldn't Be BetterMar 05, 2012

As a modest knife collector, SAKS are a must component for me. Of the four that I have, the Spartan is by far the most used and carried. It provides all the tools one would likely need during the day. The knife construction is first class, the blades comes razor sharp - are easy to maintain and sharpen, and the translucent blue is a very nice rich color.
For most folks, I can't imagine a more suitable, useful EDC (Every Day Carry). For the money you simply cannot go wrong.
Beach Camera delivered in TWO days (granted I have a Prime account) - but never the less.
Kinda Okay..........Sep 05, 2011
By will o the wisp Somehow the solid handles look better than the translucent ones. Mine is not as finely finished on one side as the older red tinker that I have. I can also see signs of mild rusting inside the recess on the main blade where you insert your nail to pull out the knife. If you need to buy only one SAK in the 3.5 inch format go for the solid red handles.
Great pocket knifeOct 10, 2010
By Steve S. Bought this to replace a similar one, 20+ years old. Great choice of tools, yet small & slim enough to keep in pocket. Quality remains awesome. Only 'down side' is the key ring that I don't use; the protrusion of the metal to hold the key ring is somewhat noticeable, and the corkscrew can close on the key ring. This is a rare design mistake on part of Victorinox, but not a big deal (despite my lengthy description). Bro-in-law was able to grind it off, making it perfect. Even with key ring, however, it's a perfect size, most useable pocket knife.
