5Best all around pocket knifeJun 15, 2010
By Matiss Karklins
I had this knife for almost 30 years, and except when I traveled by air, it was always in my pocket. The only maintenance it needed was sharpening, a little oil and an occasional cleaning out of accumulated lint. I recently lost it, and it felt like losing a member of the family. During those years, I used every tool on the knife. The 2 most used tools on the knife were the large locking blade and corkscrew. Surprisingly, the third most used tool was a tie between the bottle opener and the can opener. Inevitably, there are always needs for the large and small screwdriver (the small screwdriver can be used on a Phillips head in a pinch). I've even used the wire stripper when fixing appliances. The least used tool for me was the reamer, but when you need it... it's there.

To replace it, I ordered the Nomad, which is almost the same knife with 2 exceptions: 1) it's black 2) the large screw driver locks. Having a locking screwdriver blade was the main reason.

I expect to get just as many years of service from my new knife; the quality of Victorinox is unsurpassed.

5Appropriately Named the PicnickerOct 03, 2008
By ThroughTheLookingGlass
Very appropriately named! This is a basic Swiss Army Knife, which means it is still capable of quite a lot. It is perfect for small outdoor events as the serrated blade works well with all food items, as well as basic stuff like rope, plastic sheeting or canvas. Maybe not the preferred blade for wood, but there is a small portion of the blade which is not serrated for even more versatility. The locking blade makes the knife safer for some heavier jobs or with inexperienced users. This is a larger folding knife in term of length (111mm), but that's great outdoors. Bring the wine, your covered there too.

3Feels CheapOct 05, 2010
By Colin M.
I bought this knife because it has exactly the tool-set I was looking for in a picnic knife. The actual blade and tool mechanisms are great; on par with every other Swiss Army knife I've ever owned, however the thin plastic scales and painted-on Victorinox badge make the knife feel like a knock-off. This might seem petty, but one of the reasons I buy Swiss Army knives again and again is their attention to detail, and this one falls short in the 'fit and finish' category.

5Picnicker Pocket KnifeNov 12, 2011
By James Hershey "JimmyD"
The best Swiss Army Knife to carry period. Large, yet slender so it does not fill ones pocket. The locking blade is a big plus. The quality of this product is excellent and the price is very reasonable.
I have purchased several on different occasions as gifts.
I have carried this model for years. My first one became a donation to TSA.
I recently had to buy a new one only because my old Picnicker got lost while mountain biking.
Should anyone find a Swiss Army Picnicker in the woods in the Old Mission Peninsula near Traverse City Mi do let me know.

5Perfect Foodie Swiss ArmyApr 21, 2011
By Matt
I got my first one of these in '93, and lost it no less than eight times...yet it always seemed to come back! After it came back the 4th time, I nicknamed it "boomerang." I don't think that was an intended product feature, but I digress. When I finally lost it for good, it really hurt. I have finally purchased it's successor.

This is a great knife for the foodie on the go - it can open any food container known to man, and then the wine that you paired with it. My original picnicker didn't have any serration - straight blade only, so I'm really looking forward to the newer blade. It'll be perfect for traditional picnic foods like dried Italian salamis and sharing sandwiches. I was in the military, so the value of being able to open whatever food comes my way is, well, high. Suffice it to say, cared for, this knife will handle whatever "steak" the service slaps that label on.

I highly recommend the eyeglass screwdriver that fits in the corkscrew. Whether it's prescription or sunglasses, it comes in handy unusually frequently. I don't wear prescription glasses, but plenty of folks who do are friends now because I had it handy.
