Had one for years - bought one for my daughterJul 09, 2010
By Pat Knight We decided our daughter was finally old (and sensible) enough for her own pocket knife. As a long time user, it had to be Victorinox. There are huge numbers of Swiss Army Knife variants, so I went to the Victorinox web site and used their tool for choosing a knife. After specifying the blades I thought my daughter would most appreciate, the site recommended the Mountaineer knife.
It turns out this is the same knife I've had for 15 years. Who'd have thought our disparate interests would be best met by the same knife, but so it goes. Anyway, I can testify to the knife's build quality - everything still works and nothing's fallen off or broken after 15 years sharing a pocket with my keys. The blades are still sharp and shiny. They open and close firmly - nothing's loosened.
If you want a pocket knife, get a Victorinox, but use the tool to choose the best knife for your needs.

Incredibly HandyDec 13, 2007
By M. McCreary I bought this because I received a gift card for Christmas 2006 from my then Fiancee's mother. I thought it would be a more appropriate 'gift' than a computer game. I did not expect it to be as handy as it has been. I've used it very frequently since buying it. I've carried it around nearly every day since buying it, and most days I use it. The days I've forgotten it I notice it is missing.
I bought this particular version because I liked the tools it had. The size is also about right. You can get other knives (not just Victorinox) that have many more tools, but they are really large and not convenient. I've also seen some that are exclusively knives, and so are fairly thin (and some that are more like a hunting knife) but to buy just a knife seems pointless. I'd say I use the one of the knives (this particular model has a small and large blade if you don't know) more than any other individual tool, but I'd say between the two, they account for about half of what I use the knife for.

Great gift for an outdoorsy guyJan 09, 2009
By Jennifer This is a good everyday pocket knife. It has enough gadgets to get you out of any pinch, but it is not too heavy or bulky. And Victorinox is the brand of Swiss army knives they sell in Switzerland, so it is the brand I trust.
Solid knife for a great priceFeb 26, 2012
By DrFlimFlam I'd long been lacking in the pocket knife department and got this one to carry around for an every day casual use. It's gone from opening boxes at work, to tightening a loose screw on the engine of my truck. Very handy and has more than paid for itself with how easy it has made things. I don't go anywhere (except for a plane, thanks TSA) without this knife in pocket.
