Outstanding Value and DesignJun 28, 2011

The Fireman is another outstanding knife from Victorinox and is one of the "hidden gems" in the Victorinox lineup, in my opinion. This model is the predecessor of the Rescue Tool which sells for twice the price and was originally designed for services personnel (fire, police, etc). The Fireman model adds a 2nd curved "rescue" blade (in addition to the excellent plain edged main blade) which differentiates it from the Forester model. Note that there is also a "one-handed" version of this knife available as well but that version is more expensive and adds additional bulk. All of the tools are very stout as expected and the current version of the Fireman now uses a liner-lock instead of a side switch. This is a rather large knife (4 Layers)and would likely be a tad too large for EDC purposes. One minor point for those concerned with design, is that the handles are either red or black nylon and not the glossy Celidor common on most Victorinox knives (however, this adds to the durability in my opinion). In summary, this knife would certainly be the right size to carry on a hike, camping trip, or in the car. Highly recommended.

Great product with fast and easy shipping - I down sized all my camping equipment and this hit the sweet spot of size, weight and tools. I love Leatherman stuff also, but it is just too heavy in my pack, this offers a good set of working tools at a much lower weight.
It was shipped quickly and I carry it every time I head out.
